5 Questions To Keep Your Beachbody Business Growing

September 12, 2017

When I look back at my Coaching business and all the accolades and success I have achieved (both individually and as a team) over the last 7 years, I still find myself in awe. Like, really? Before signing up to become a Coach, I was an attorney trying to get my career started and staring down the barrel of years working behind a desk. I mean, come on, I was $80,000 in debt for my law degree. That was going to be my life.

But after attending my first event with my sister and I saw the possibility that this “little” business could help us financially, I started paying attention.

I knew nothing about network marketing, other than it was annoying as hell. I didn’t want to be sold or sell, I didn’t want to host home parties, and I certainly didn’t want to devote my weekends to something else other than family. I also always believed that only those that got in “early” would be successful. I didn’t understand the terms of the business either—cycle bonus, residual income, binary, upline, downline, cross line, all the lines!

My sister signed up as a Beachbody Coach with the first person that offered her the opportunity, and he was brand new himself. We had ZERO training, ZERO systems, ZERO volume—zero of anything really. Just her, me, and some hustle in our bellies.

I also knew that anything worth while would take time to build. The analogy—Rome wasn’t built in a day—would play over and over in my head. I think that is why most network marketers fail and then cast blame on everything and everyone but themselves. I always knew that if I was going to succeed, that burden and privilege would rest on my shoulders, and my shoulders only. I mean, in what profession or business is it any different? I really can’t think of any. Get real with yourself if you really want to grow a network marketing business.

Oh, and those people that tell you that you can earn a lot of cash quick? They’re either lying or are professional network marketers who target other network marketers to pad their pockets quick.

The most complicated and yet overlooked key to this business is mastering your mindset and that cannot be taught overnight.

My start as a Coach (and as a network marketer) wasn’t glamorous.

I started as a Beachbody Coach just like everyone else. The first bag of Shakeology I sold was returned and the first two Coaches I sponsored quit the business. It was not a glamorous start by any stretch of the imagination. But I knew it was part of the game. If everyone in the world absolutely loved Shakeology and never quit their DVD workout programs, we’d all be millionaires overnight. No way this can be that easy. In the process of building a business you will win some, you will lose some, people will join and they will quit—the reasons are really none of your business.

Your business is to continue searching for 5 key individuals that share your purpose, vision, tenacity, drive, skills, influence and leadership. When you find them get ready to blow this shit up. Your job is to keep searching for them and always emotionally detach yourself from all expectations for others. Your emotions should be focused internally, not externally. Remember, your mindset is key.

Over the course of the ensuing 7 years with Beachbody, I went from Coach to Emerald, to Diamond, to One Star all the way to Fifteen Star Diamond in my first center, 5 Star Diamond in my second center, 2 Star Diamond in my third center, One Star Diamond in my 4th. I was also inducted into the Million Club, Coach Advisory Board and I am a 5X Elite Coach. I don’t say that to brag, I say that prove a point and inspire you. You have to fight. You have to see the big picture and you always have to keep your eyes forward. Goal-setting is an absolute necessity.

But what was it in particular that helped me continue pushing for more? When I narrowed it down, it was actually just 5 simple questions. As I moved during the different seasons of my business, I repeated this exercise over and over and over again. And let’s face it—I was relentless, impatient, and obsessed with success.

The 5 Questions That Helped Me Become Successful as a Beachbody Coach

1. What are you chasing?

I ask myself and my Coaches one simple question—what do you want? And I am not just talking a car, a vacation, or even to pay off debt. I am talking big picture, life’s purpose, scary as shit stuff. The stuff that you can only dream of. As a network marketer, you have to learn how to dream. And dream BIG. Because when you can see clearly what you want out of life, you will be able to train yourself to work towards it and it will force you to grow into the person you need to be to achieve it.

Clearly define what you are chasing then you can move on to the second question.

2. Why are you chasing it?

The second question is likely the most important. Why? Why are you chasing it? Why are you willing to make sacrifices, work hard, do what is not normal or conventional, invest in yourself to achieve what you want? This has to have meaning and it may only make sense to you. But that meaning has to be deep and powerful, make you sick in the pit of your stomach, make your heart ache. Your WHY is your driving force in this business. If it is not clear to you, your goals will always elude you or you will quit.

My business flourishes when my WHY is clear as day. When it is not, I find myself and my Team struggling. Remember those in your tribe feed of your energy. If you energy is misguided, they too will be misguided.

3. What can you do less of to achieve it?

There are plenty of activities that do not serve our goals. It’s up to you to figure out what they are for YOU. You cannot achieve big goals with a half-ass work ethic, half-ass focus, half-ass of anything really. Rid yourself of all of your distractions. That can be social media, mindless television, or binge watching Netflix. Trust me, while that stuff makes you disconnect, it will also disconnect you from what you are chasing. Zero in and then discard.

Those that have big goals don’t waste time on things that serve no purpose. If you are passive about your goals, you will just watch others blow past you.

4. What can you do more of to achieve it?

Figure out the activities that YOU need to do in order to move you closer to the goals you set, and then put 10X more effort into them. It could be learning new skills or techniques, talking to more people, figuring out another social media platform to use, engaging more in your personal development and growth. Whatever it is, do more of it.

Many times you know exactly what you need to do but are afraid of the work it will take. Guess what? It will take work so stop being a pansy. You either you do it, or you don’t. Either way the decision is yours as to whether your dreams are worth achieving. I know mine are.

5. What’s next?

A critical question that most people fail to ask. What’s next? Whether you’ve accomplished a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly or big ass goal, you need to constantly ask yourself—so, what’s next? So many people fail to do this and then lose momentum and fizzle out. Not you.

You sponsored a Coach. What’s next? You hit Diamond. What’s next? You hit Success Club. What’s next? You created a new training system for your Team. What’s next? You hit Million Club. Ok, what’s next? This one simple question will keep your business and activities aligned with goal-achievement and forward progress. Never stop asking it.

Now you have my secret to success…

With 100% certainty, it is these 5 questions that kept me focused on moving my business forward. And with 100% certainty, when it has slowed down, it’s because I wasn’t self-evaluating and not asking myself these 5 questions.

Your timing is impeccable. This is exactly what I needed to read exactly when I needed to read it. I’ve been a “hobby” coach for so long I have struggled to move past that mentality – and I want so much more for my family than mediocrity. I hate seeing anyone “settle” yet, I tend to do just that for myself. Thank you so much for the kick I needed!
