Our 80 Day Obsession Final Results & Review

November 1, 2017

WE DID IT! We finished (and crushed) Autumn Calabrese’s new program—80 Day Obsession! Over 93 days of commitment, 80 different workouts are done. What an insanely wild ride of mental and physical change. And guess what? I would do it again in a heartbeat. Oh wait, I am!

First, I will say that it was an ultimate blessing to have been selected to participate in the Coach Test Group for this 80 Day Obsession. This was definitely unlike any other Test Group because we were actually providing input and feedback while the workouts and nutrition plan was being crafted and finalized. Not to mention, it was the first time EVER that the Test Group was able to workout LIVE with the trainer each and every day. That definitely added a layer of accountability that you cannot really comprehend. Each day, I felt that I was there with Autumn and the cast as they worked out. I felt a part of the process and it was awesome!

This is just the beginning for me.

As I wrap my head around what we just did, I will say that this journey is far from over. While Round 1 is behind us, I have learned so much about myself, my pain points, my challenges in nutrition, my strengths, and my weaknesses—that I can resoundingly say that this is just the beginning of a brand new lifestyle for me. The obsessed lifestyle. And even though I achieved incredible results, I still have lots of work to do. I still have to work out the kinks when it comes to temptation and what was once my “fit(ish)” lifestyle. That part of me still lingers but I am committed to self-improvement each and every day, to timing my nutrition and pushing hard in my workouts.

You won’t be “fixed” just by completing this program but it will teach you many lessons about what you’re capable of.

And that I did. I proved to myself that I am capable of so much more than I was giving myself credit for. From a girl who thought she was stuck physically in a body she did not like, all it took was deciding to be successful with this program to change the game completely. I changed my language from hoping for change to forcing change by my actions, consistency and impenetrable will to succeed.

I took it one day at a time, one workout, one meal at a time. Being present in the moment, using positive affirmations, and leaning into my support system that including my husband, my sister, and friends Monica and Mindy who were part of the Test Group as well.

My FINAL 80 Day Obsession Review

The Workouts

The program builds in intensity and difficulty from Phase 1 to Phase 3. And I stand by my prior statements that this is not a beginner program.

Utilizing the loops and sliders, as well as, many compound movements (ex. Half Turkish Get Up with a Half Twist Push Up—say that 3X fast!) places this program in the Major Leagues of workout programs. You will want to have a fitness base even if you will be following the modifier.

Lifting heavier, pushing harder.

In Phase 3, we also lifted even heavier weight than the first two phases, so be prepared to have a wide variety to chose from. And definitely, have extra loops handy since they may pop due to overuse. Yes, you will use them A LOT!

80 Day Obsession feels like you have your own personal trainer.

One very cool aspect of the workouts is the feeling that Autumn is your very own personal trainer because of the way the workouts are laid out, the cueing of moves, and length of the workouts. With the exception of the cardio workouts, most workouts were an hour long.

Here’s an interesting observation: If Autumn charges $150 per hour for her services as personal trainer—80 Day Obsession is tantamount to over $11,000 worth of personal training. How crazy is that?!?!

The Meal Plan

Now, I want to be 100% transparent with you. Before the Test Group and 80 Day Obsession, I was falling into the trap of looking for solutions outside of the portion control container system to latch on to nutritionally. It was the rise of Keto, intermittent fasting, Whole 30, etc. that made me question if the containers were right for me.

Well, I am so proud to say that not only do those containers work perfectly (hence my 20-pound weight loss!)—they simplify nutrition in a way that anyone can do and be successful long-term. This isn’t rocket science you guys—it is eating the right foods, at the time right time, and in the right amounts. That’s IT!

It’s all based on timed-nutrition.

While under lock and key until we get closer to the actual launch of 80 Day Obsession, I can say that timed-nutrition is THE BOMB! Hook, line, sinker—I love it. Sure it was kinda overwhelming at first because it is so different than what I am used to, but once you get going and master it, it was smoooooooth sailing. In fact, I am still doing it!

How do you get a handle on timed nutrition?

You just have to do it. Don’t fight it, don’t question it—just do it. Yes, you may need to adjust your schedule. Yes, you may need to workout at a different time of day than you are used to, And yes, you may need to carry some meals around with you in case of emergencies.

Ask yourself this: Is what you are doing now working? If the answer is no, then quit yapping and start planning. This IS a critical piece to the program and is what I attribute my success too, both in the short-term and long-term.

And what a difference it makes in overall productivity and focus. Because your day will be so structured around your meals and workout, you find yourself being so much more efficient. In our home, we are waking up early, we are getting more done, and I am so much more focused on my work. Heck, if it wasn’t for this program I would have NEVER started blogging!

How similar is the 80 Day Obsession meal plan to 21 Day Fix?

If you are familiar with the 21 Day Fix/Fix Extreme meal plans, you know the containers play an integral role in all of Autumn’s meal plans. This one is no different. Depending on your weight and goals you be placed into a bracket and use the containers to plan your meals.

My advice on choosing your bracket on 80 Day Obsession.

The main question we are seeing over and over is: What bracket should I eat from? This is a question you need to answer for yourself, but I will just offer my experience, my input, and my advice.

I do not believe that Bracket A is a sufficient amount of food for this program. The workouts are hard and you need to fuel your body properly. I started in Bracket B and jumped to C three weeks into the program. Coincidently, that’s when I saw the most weight come off. Trust that you need to eat to lose and, in this case, also to get through your workouts and day!

You will be pushing your body to limits so don’t be afraid of eating more.

The Mental Shift

I’ve said it once, I will say it again—this is not just a program, it’s a process. A process of finding your inner strength, drive, motivation, and will to succeed. It’s a process of eliminating excuses and the stories we tell ourselves that sabotage results or forward progress. Getting results is just as much personal development than pushing weight around or eating properly.

We were able to complete this program through travel, through my 37th birthday, through Hurricane Irma and through a 6-day whirlwind trip to London. So absolutely, it CAN be done.

You need to adjust your mindset in order to embrace this 80-day journey. Why? Because it’s a fucking mental rollercoaster you are embarking on!

One day you step on the scale and you’ve lost weight, the next day you are up 3 pounds. One day you feel strong, the next day you feel like a wimp. One day you feel great, the next day you can barely walk due to soreness! I really hope you take this advice to heart—throw the damn scale away. For 5 weeks the scale didn’t move for me and in the last two weeks, I lost that final 5 pounds. If I had judged my success on the scale, I would have likely quit or not given this my all. Seriously, it does not do anything but mess with your mindset!

Trust the damn process. Because that’s what it is—a process.

    You are such an inspiration!!
I’ve been doing 21 day Fix and 21 day Fix extreme back and forth for awhile now. I initially lost 5 pounds now I gained it all back. I don’t get sore from the workouts anymore…in just kind of in a rut. I’m SO excited to start 80 day obsession. I’m even more motivated after reading your post 🙂

I lost some weight in Phase 1 but the most in Phase 3 in Plan C. Remember that everyone is totally different and you should be gauging progress based on the way you feel and the way your clothes is fitting. You are gaining muscle! Keep me posted on what you decide!

Hi Kristina – I am a discount coach only and I have been looking for a group that does 80 day obsession to hear feedback and see if others are experiencing the same that I am. In researching some questions I had on 80 days I came across your blog. I have read through everything you have here and I am excited to see that some of feelings and issues others have had. The biggest thing I learned here is to increase my eating plan. It could be why i don’t see a lot of weight loss but a loss of a lot of inches.

I am currently in week 2 phase 3 and I was wondering if you would be willing to let me join a group.
